Valentin ‘V’ Syrah, Mendoza, 2009

I like this wine — but sometimes, no matter how much you like it, you can’t up the quality and balance ratings above what standards you set. My overall impression is that this is a nicely complex wine given the varietal and its location. A lot of fruit, plum, blackberry, charcoal tastes. I’ve read this in other notes but this is the first time I picked out this taste: soy, soy sauce. All in a very good way. Packed with stuff to talk about. A little harsh on first tasting — let her breathe a little. Wilfred Wong 90 points. Link to Bevmo notes. Effective 6/10.
